In most cases we have plants for decorative purposes, but did you know that plants can actually help you sell your home? Those green or colorful botanicals can assist in getting your house off the market. Potential buyers like to imagine themselves living in a home before they buy it, and what better way to portray a thriving, living space than with plants?
Negative Space
An empty corner in the living room, a bare countertop, or barren shelves are the ideal places for plants to reside. They can fill in empty spaces where furniture or decor might be lacking, while bringing life to the home.
Scale the Space
Sometimes in photos, it’s hard to showcase how tall a ceiling is or how large space may be. Using plants to help scale the size of a room can be beneficial for potential homebuyers both online and when they view the home in person.
Focal Point
Paired with a gorgeous pot, a plant can become the focal point for any room. Add life to the dining room table or spruce up the living room with a few colorful flowers such as lilacs or sunflowers. They will become the main attraction and finish off the look of a room.
Feels Like Home
Plants make spaces feel warm and welcoming, which is what you want to portray to potential home buyers. Sellers want potential buyers to imagine themselves living in their home, a space that is cared for and welcoming.
Make the Swap
One of the first things it’s recommended for sellers to do before allowing potential buyers in is to remove all personal items, so anyone viewing the listing can imagine themselves in the space. Replace family photos with small succulents to neutralize the area.
