Drones have been a hit holiday gift for the past several years, but can they help you sell your home?
In June 2016, the Federal Aviation Administration made a final rule governing the use of drones. Before this rule came down, anyone using one for commercial purposes had to fill out a waiver. Today, with the final rule, Realtors® are able to utilize drones to help sell properties in a number of unique ways.
Listings that look better, sell better. Whether it’s video or still photography, a drone can capture your property from an incomparable angle. If you have an impressive footprint, layout, and well-manicured property, drones can be an incredible asset for your Realtor® to have when marketing your home. From above, a potential buyer can see the entire layout of a property, get the true bigger picture, and understand how the property fits into the overall neighborhood. Aerial photographs are often more dramatic and interesting. Your Realtor® can also create a virtual tour with the drone for a professional, visual story.
That being said, be careful before you jump on drone photography if your entire property isn’t well groomed. If you have significant backyard space that could use some trimming, remember that drone photography will show every nook and cranny. If your property isn’t as aesthetically pleasing from an aerial shot, but has a lot to offer, remember that drone photography is not a must.
